Partners
The SEAP Forests IP is implemented through a partnership spanning national governments, UN agencies, regional institutions, and civil society organisations. This page brings together the full network; from the agencies co-leading the program to the country institutions executing projects on the ground and the expert organisations supporting technical and knowledge work across the region.
Lead agencies
The regional program is co-led by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). FAO and UNDP also serve as implementing agencies for the country projects: FAO in Thailand and Papua New Guinea, and UNDP in Lao PDR.
Country partners
Country-level projects are implemented with and through national government institutions, whose leadership is central to the program's long-term impact. In Lao PDR, the lead executing partner is the Department of Forestry (DOF) under the Ministry of Agriculture. In Papua New Guinea, this role is held by the Conservation and Environmental Protection Authority (CEPA). In Thailand, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) leads execution.
Regional delivery partners
CIFOR-ICRAF, Grow Asia and RECOFTC are core partners in the delivery of the program's regional outputs. Working across countries, they contribute to knowledge generation, cross-country learning, and the translation of evidence into policy and practice, bringing both scientific depth and on-the-ground networks that extend the program's reach across the region. The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) serves as a key technical partner of this Knowledge Hub, bringing its regional expertise in biodiversity conservation, enriching its content and strengthening its relevance across Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The SEAP Forests IP will continue to strengthen and expand partnerships within and outside the region to advance its objectives.
Technical Advisory Group
The program works with a network of regional and international organizations that bring specialized expertise in forest science, biodiversity, governance, community rights, and sustainable finance, among other areas. Together they form the program's Technical Advisory Group, supporting evidence-based implementation across all areas of work.
